"The Dead Zone" is an American horror/thriller movie, it is based on the novel by Stephen King by the same name, and directed by David Cronenberg. It stars Christopher Walken, and Martin Sheen.
Johnny Smith (Christopher Walken) is a young school teacher in the town of Castle Rock. He is in love with his Sarah Bracknell (Brooke Adams). But after he has a strong headache during a rollercoaster ride. He declines Sarah´s invitation to spend the night with her. As he gets in his car and heads home, he is the victim of a car accident. He ends up in a coma, and as he wakes up five years has gone by. His old sweetheart Sarah has found herself a new man, and has a child. But something weird happened to Johnny as he wakes up. He seems to have gained some psychic ability to see peoples past, and future.
I saw this movie first time a couple of months ago, I had very high expectations for it, I mean it is written by Stephen King, directed by David Cronenberg, and starring Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen. I thought this would be a great movie, but to be honest I was kind of disappointed. I was hoping for this movie to be much more surreal, and more like other works of Cronenberg, like "Videodrome" and such. I thought the movie was kind of slow, and I was not very impressed. It is probably not a movie that I will rewatch many times.
4 out of 10.
