Chinatown is an American Neo-noir hard boiled mystery film written by Robert Towne, and directed by Roman Polanski. It is starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. The film was inspired by the California water wars, a series of disputes over southern California water at the beginning of the 20th century.
J.J. "Jake" Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is a private investigator, who is working with exposing adulterers. His life will quickly change as a woman who is identifying herself as Evelyn Mulwray hires him to expose her husbands involvement with another woman. He finds himself stuck in a web of deceit, corruption, and murder.
This is a really good movie, I love a good noir movie. The blend of mystery, romance, and hard boiled detective noir elements. Jack Nicholson is doing a great job as the part of J.J. Gittes. It is a story that really grabs your attention, and you get sucked into it. It is really similar to the old school noir films like "The Third Man". The movie is really great, and the ending is absolutely awesome.
This movie is really a masterpiece!
