"Bad Lieutenant" is an American neo-noir crime/drama movie directed by Abel Ferrara, and co-written by Abel Ferrara and Zoë Lund. The movie stars Harvey Keitel as the "Bad Lieutenant.
Harvey Keitel as the Bad Lieutenant which we never heard the name of, is a corrupt police Lieutenant, he has a serious addiction to gambling, drugs, alcohol, and women. As he is investigation a young nuns rape, he is trying to live a new and better life. But he has a big problem with a gambling debt, that is getting bigger and bigger. As he is investigating, and trying to win back money, he is sinking deeper and deeper in to the abyss of alcohol, drugs, and self-destruction.
I watched this the first time yesterday, and this is really my kind of movie. I was looking for movies similar to "Leaving Las Vegas" (which is one of my favorite movies), and also movies about shady cops. This is just the kind of movie I was looking for. It is powerful to watch how the Lieutenant (Harvey Keitel) is digging his own grave, by gambling with money he does not have, heavily drinking, and using drugs such as cocaine and heroin. I have a taste for these self-destruction movies. This was a really cool movie. If you are a fan of addiction movies, this is definitely a movie you must watch!
7 out of 10.
