Josef Fritzl: Story Of A Monster (2010)

Story of a monster is the documentary of the monster of a human being, Josef Fritzl.
Now this is a real life horror story.
Josef Fritzl kept his own daughter Elisabeth Fritzl looked up in a bunker like basement for 24 years.
Through these 24 years, Josef Fritzl kept physically assaulting her, sexually abusing and raping her.
The abuse of her father resulted in seven children born in the basement.

Josef Fritzl was born 9 April, 1935 in Amstetten, Austria.
When he was 21 years old, he married 17 year old Rosemarie, and together they had seven children, two sons and five daughters.

One of the daughters were Elisabeth who was born in 1966. Josef Fritzl reportedly abused her since the age of 11.

We learn that Josef Fritzl grew up in the Nazi Era. And that he was convicted of rape in 1967 and received a prison sentence of 18 months.

He did also try to rape another women, who is interviewed about the attempted rape for the first time in this documentary.

When Josef's daughter Elisabeth reached puberty she tried to escape her abusive father.
And in January 1983 she ran away with a friend of her from work hiding in Vienna.
Three weeks later she was found by the police and brought back home to her parents.

Josef Fritzl did not like that his daughter Elisabeth was going out to bars, drinking and hanging out with the wrong kind of people, so he decided that he had to take her away from it.
And keep her for himself, away from the rest of the world.

On 29 August 1984, when Elisabeth was 18 years old, Josef took her captivated in the bunker like cellar.
This cellar would be Elisabeth's home for 24 years, and she gave birth to seven of her fathers children as a result of the sexual abuse he inflicted on her.

In April 2008 Elisabeth first was released from the cellar, and came out to the real world.
Elisabeth and her children was given new identities and a new home, but still the tabloids were able to find them and put them in the news papers.
Josef Fritzl's friend Paul, who we get to know in the documentary still struggles to come to terms with who his best friend turned out to be.

Josef Fritzl: The Story Of a Monster is a really interesting story, and it surly is a true horror story.
Josef Fritzl is maybe one of the sickest creeps of the world, and how he managed to keep his daughter caged in the cellar making her pregnant with seven children, and still keeping a smile on his face, going on holidays, acting like nothing is wrong, is just sick.

There is some footage taken from Josef Fritzl going on holiday with his friends, and some footage of him in the courtroom. But I was hoping for more home video footage, and maybe more footage from the court. The documentary runs for 48 minutes, I would like it to be a little longer.
But it was a good documentary.
I like the way they use very dark and gloomy effects, and creepy music to really show how horrific and sinister this case was.

This documentary gets a 5 out of 10 score from me.
