Pet Sematary (1989)

Pet Sematary is a novel written by Stephen King, and was made into a movie directed by Mary Lambert in 1989. Pet Sematary is another good story written by Stephen King, this is a movie I really enjoy. The story about a cemetery for kids pets, and the old part of the cemetery where if you bury an animal it will come back to life, but not as the same pet you remember it as.
I find the story very interesting. It is kind of like a horror/ adventure movie I would say.

This is the story of the Creed family. The doctor Louis Creed (Dale Midikiff), his wife Rachel (Denise Crosby), and their two children Ellie (Blaze Berdahl) and Gage (Miko Huges).

They move into a large house near the small town of Ludlow.
Quickly they after arriving at their new house they run into trouble. Ellie hurts her knee at the swingset and Gage get stung by a bee.
This is when their neighbor, an old man named Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynne) comes to help them out.
He warn them about the danger of the highway that runs past the house.

Jud and Louis quickly becomes close friends. After a few weeks Jud wants to take the Creed family for a walk in the woods behind their house.
They walk along the path that leads from the Creeds house and to a cemetery where the children of the town bury their dead animals. The sign above the cemetery reads "Pet Sematary"

In the hospital where Louis works they get a patient that is fatally injured in a car accident.
The young man named Pascow gives his last words to Louis before dying in the hospital bed.

The next night Pascow comes to visit Louis in what he believe is a dream.
Pascow leads Louis to the Pet Sematary, and tells Louis to "Not go beyond, no matter how much you feel you need to."
Louis wakes up the next morning still believing it was just a dream, until he sees that his feet and bedsheets are covered in dirt from the woods.

Ellie's cat Church, get run over on the highway next to their house. Rachel and the two children are on a trip to visit Rachel's parent.
Jud decides to help Louis, who is not looking forward to telling Ellie about the dead cat.
Jud and Louis goes to the Pet Sematary, but instead of burying the cat there, Jud leads Louis farther to the "Real sematary"
This is an ancient burial ground that was once used by the Micmac Indians.
Louis buries the cat there, and Jud tells him that the animals buried there will come back to life.

Later in the evening what Jud told comes true, and Church is back. But it is obvious that Church is not the same as he used to be. The cat is no longer the nice and happy cat. Church is hunting more for animals, and rips them apart, and also being very hostile, and smells of death

While the family is having a picknick picnic in their yard together with Jud. Their young son Gage gets run over by a truck speeding along the highway.

While Rachel is back at her parents in Chicago, Louis digs up Gages dead body to bring him to the Pet Sematary to bring him back from the dead.
Gage wakes from the dead, but he also will not be the same Gage as he used to.
And Louis will soon regret what he had done

Pet Sematary is a really good horror movie, with the typical adventure like story as Stephen King usually writes.
The movie is also quite graphic, there is some brains blood and rotting corpses.

The young child Gage, might be the creepiest child in horror ever.
As I watched this the first time as a 14 year old, I was really scared, and the movies had some jumpscares.
Now it is not quite as scary anymore, but it sure is a good and entertaining movie.

Stephen King is a big fan of The Ramones, so some of their songs are used in the movie "Pet Sematary" and "Sheena is a punk rocker"
There is also a reference to another Stephen King movie Cujo (1983) When Jud is talking about a dog going crazy in a town nearby and killed several people.

This movie gets a 8 out of 10 score from me
