The Revenant (2015)

The Revenant was showing on TV the other day, so I sat down to watch it.
This is the first movie that Leonardo DiCaprio has ever received an Oscar for, and also it seemed like a pretty interesting movie, it is directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.
This review might contain spoilers!!!

This movie is about fur hunter in the 1820s. Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) guides the team of fur hunters through unknown territories. While hunting the companies camp is attacked by an Arikara war party.

Glass recommends that the survivors of the attack travel by foot to Fort Kiowa. They find a place to store the pelts so they can go back and get it later.
Glass gets attacked by a bear, he gets badly mauled and near death.
He manages to kill the bear and survive, but in bad shape with the bear lying over his body.
The rest of the company finds him, and they will do what they can to save his life.
Glass is screaming in pain when they try to fix up his wounds, and another member of the company John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) says it is better to just kill him, cause he will die anyways.
Hawk (Forest Goodluck) who is Glassés half-Pawnee son insists that they will get Glass home alive.

But traveling with Glass in his shape will not be easy. The company decides to leave him behind, but some of the company members will stay behind until he dies to give him a worthy burial.
John Fitzgerald, Hawk and Bridger (Will Poulter) are the once who will stay behind. Fitzgerald is staying behind mostly because he will be payed 300$ for it.
It doesnt take long before Fitzgerald is trying to kill Glass by strangling him. But Hawk is catching him in the act, and Fitzgerald end up killing Hawk.

When Bridger comes back he is wondering where Hawk has gone, Fitzgerald lies and says he do not know.

Fitzgerald wakes Bridger the next day, telling him that a bunch of the Arikara is approaching, and that they have to save them selfs and leave Glass behind. He manages to convince Bridger and Glass is left behind in his grave to die. But Glass is not so easily killed, and he will have his revenge.

This was an ok movie, to be honest I have seen Leonardo DiCaprio in better movies than this, and do not see why he got an Oscar for this movie.
But the movie has a cool dark atmosphere and I think Tom Hardy is doing a good job as Fitzgerald.
The bear fighting scene is a really good scene, and also the last fight scene between Fitzgerald and glass and the scene where Glass cuts open his horse and sleeps inside of it. Its a good movie for entertainment, but it is not a movie that I am likely to rewatch allot of times. The Norwegian actor Kristoffer Joner also has a part in the movie, which I think is cool being Norwegian myself.

I give this movie a 5 out of 10
