Hostel is an American horror movie written and directed by Eli Roth. I believe that Hostel was the first movie that was referred to as a "torture porn" movie. It is the first installment in the Hostel trilogy. Hostel part one and two are the only two movies who received the age limit 20+ in Norwegian stores.
Two college students Paxton (Jay Hernandez) and Josh (Derek Richardson). Are traveling across Europe with an Icelandic friend Óli (Eyþór Guðjónsson). In Amsterdam the three friends meet a man named Alexi, who convinces them to travel to a Hostel in Slovakia filled with beautiful women. As they arrive at the Hostel they are met by two beautiful young Slovakian women. Natalya (Barbara Nedeljáková) and Svetlana (Jana Kaderabkova). As the three goes out to a Sauna with the girls, and goes out to party with them, Óli suddenly disappears, the two American friends starts looking for him. Only to get deeper and deeper into a secret underworld of Slovakia.
As the movie came to Norway I could not wait to see it, and since the first time I saw it this has been one of my favorite movies. This is in my opinion Eli Roth´s best movie. He makes it a great movie by telling the gruesome story of people getting sold, it is a slow-burn horror movie which I really like. I think it is cool, that we get to know the characters a little before all the killings and torture begins. I also really enjoy that Eli Roth uses Slovakia as the main place where the film takes place, and that he makes the backgrounds and the people in the movie shady and creepy. It is a really great movie.
The move gets the score 9 out of 10.
