8MM (1999)

As I made a review of A Serbian Film yesterday I thought it would be a good idea to follow up with 8MM. This is an American-German mystery/crime/thriller movie directed by Joel Schumacher and written by Andrew Kevin Walker, and is starring Nicolas Cage.

Tom Welles (Nicolas Cage) is a private investigator. He is contacted by Daniel Longdale who is an attorney for the wealthy widow Mrs. Christian. Mrs Christian´s husband recently died and as she was clearing out her late husbands stuff she comes over a 8MM film which appears to be content of a real murder. She contacts Tom Welles to find out if the film in fact is real, Tom goes on a journey deep into the underground of the porn industry.

This is a really good movie, and a very dark and mysterious crime film. It takes us deep down in the underground of the porn industry, where we see all kinds of sexual pervertion, and sex freaks. I do believe that snuff movies is something that is out there. Even though there really has not been any documented findings, apart from the Daisy's destruction which was made by the perverted pedophile Peter Scully. There has also been films like 3 guys 1 hammer and the Luka Magnotta film 1 lunatic 1 ice pick. But these movies was not marked as real "Snuff" films. 8MM is a very interesting movie, and Nicolas Cage is doing a great job acting in the movie. I really like the dark atmosphere of the movie.

It gets a 8 out of 10.
