The last house on the left is an American exploitation horror film. It is written and directed by Wes Craven and one of the actors is David Hess, who has also made the soundtrack to the movie.
The movie follows two teenage girls who are going out. On their way they are trying to score some weed. But as they go into the house of 4 strangers to get the weed, they get captured. They are taken to the woods, raped, tortured and killed by the 4 violent thugs. But the assault on the 2 teenage girls will be avenged.
The movie is very different than any of Wes Craven´s other movies, it is a shocking story, and I bet this was quite shocking in the 70s when it was released. The story is inspired by another movie, the movie "The Virgin Spring" or "Jungfrukällan" which is the original name by the Swedish film maker Ingmar Bergman.
It is a pretty cool movie, as I said in another review I really like the atmosphere of these 70s b-horror movies, and the soundtrack by David Hess with songs such as "The Road Leads to Nowhere" and "Wait for the rain" is really cool!
I give the movie a 6 out of 10.
