The Funhouse is an American horror movie written by Larry Block, and directed by Tobe Hooper. It is also released as "Carnival Of Terror" It was prosecuted as a video nasty in the UK a few years after it was released, it was questioned why it was attempted banned, because it was rather tame in comparison to the other movies on the video nasty list.
The story follows four teenagers who are going to a carnival. Going on a dark ride, a bit into the ride they decide to jump off the wagons, and stay in the dark ride to mess around there. They all get trapped in the dark ride, and is stalked by a deformed freak killer.
This movie is really boring, Tobe Hooper has directed good movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist. But this one was just shit. Why UK even wanted to get it banned is beyond me. There was one cool scene at the start of the movie which seems to be inspired by John Carpenter`s Halloween 1978 and Alfred Hitchcock`s Psycho (1960). Also there are some cool and creepy dummies in the dark ride. But other than that the movie was a big disappointment. Really not qualified for a place on the video nasty list.
The movie gets a 2 out of 10.
