"Auch Zwerge haben klein angefangen" Even Dwarfs Started Small (1970)

Even Dwarfs Started Small is a German art house comedy-drama film directed, written and produced by Werner Herzog. The entire cast of the movie consists of dwarfs. The movie was shot on the Canary Islands, at Lanzarote.

A group of dwarfs living in a confined institution decides to rebel against their boss and guardian.

They are breaking windows, having food fight, arranging cock fights, and pretty much everything to cause mayhem.

The movie starts with the dwarfs being under arrest, and the dwarf Hombré (Helmut Döring) is taking a mugshot.

The president of the institution played byPepi Hermine has bordered himself up, binding another dwarf to a chair. Hiding from the other dwarfs who seems to be angry with him.

Homré is trying to have sex with one of the female dwarfs, but are having trouble getting in to the bed.

This is actually a really funny movie, its bizarre and I bet it made allot of fuzz when it was released.

The movie has a running time of 1 hour and 36 minutes, and during this time we get to see the dwarfs cause mayhem and disorder to pretty much everything around them.

They break windows plates, making food fight, and arranging cock-fights, leaving a car to run in circles by itself, killing a big pig, and crucifying a monkey.

This is a really fucked up and freaky, but still funny and cool movie. The soundtrack is a awful song made by Werner Herzog, and I believe sung by the dwarfs.

While watching this movie, I can see where Harmony Korine has taken inspiration to his movies, such as Trash Humpers.

I give this movie a 6 out of 10 score.
