Green Room (2015)

I watched this movie last night, it was pretty good and it surprised me positively. Green Room is an American horror-thriller movie. It is written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier, and stars Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots and Patrick Stewart.

Pat (Anton Yelchin), Sam (Alia Shawkat), Reece (Joe Cole) and Tiger (Callum Turner) is the members of the punk band The Ain´t Rights.

The band is having a interview with a local radio host Tad (David W. Thompson), and Tad hooks the band up with a gig. But as the gig was canceled and the band did not paid what they were suppose to, they get upset.

But Tad sets them up with another gig at a Neo-Nazi bar. The band is not so happy with playing for Nazis as themselfs are not supporters for the right wing movements.

They say yes to the gig, and finds the bar where they are suppose to play. As the band is backstage before the concert, Pat has a "dumb" idea to play a cover of Dead Kennedys "Nazi punks fuck off!" This is not well received by the crowd. But the band manages to win them over by playing their original songs.

As the band are finished playing, and are ready to leave, Sam forgot her phone backstage in the green room. Pat offers to go get the phone, and goes back to the green room only to discover that a girl is lying dead on the floor, with a knife sticking out of her skull.

Pat manages to call the police from the phone, reporting a stabbing before the employees Gabe (Macon Blair) and Big Justin (Eric Edelstein) confiscates the phone, and telling them to not leave the room.

To get the police to leave, Gabe pays two young fellow skinheads to make one of them stab the other one, so that the police will think that this is the stabbing that was reported. Gabe consults with skinhead leader Darcy (Patrick Stewart), who makes the decision that they should kill off the band to eliminate the witnesses.

The band who has over powered Big Justin, and taken his gun is making negotiations with the nazis through the door. As the band agrees to give the gun back, but without bullets, and as pat opens the door, and tells Darcy that he will throw him the gun, but that he should not come near the door. When he throws the gun, the nazis grabs his arm, and brutally cuts it with a box cutter.

When the band gets the courage to fight their way out, they gather some stuff to use as weapons, and gets out of the green room, the skinhead girl Amber (Imogen Poots) who was also a witness to the murder, agrees to help them.

But as the band and Amber gets out of the room, they are viciously attacked by pitbulls, and the Neo-Nazis. They are forced back to the room.

The band, has to find another way to escape the green room.

This was actually a really good movie, one of the best 2015 movies I have seen. There is allot of cool music in the movie, such as Fear "Legalize drugs", Corpus Rottus with "Mutilation" "Vomit pool" and Creedence Clearwater Revival with "Sinister Purpose".

The plot is not the best ever, but still it caught my attention, and it was entertaining.

The movie had some good brutal scenes, my favorites being when Pat´s arm was cut to shreds with a box cutter, and the pitbull attack. Although I wish the movie would take it even further, and make it even more brutal.

The movie gets the score 6 out of 10
