The Informers (2008)

Greed is good. Sex is easy. Youth is forever.

The Informers is a Hollywood drama movie written by Bret Easton Ellis and directed by Gregor Jordan. The film is based on Bret Easton Ellis' book from 1994 which is also called The Informers. The movie takes place in the early 1980s Hollywood. The movie follows assortment of people socially alienated and live life of gluttony with sex, alcohol and drugs.

The movie starts at a elegant L.A. party at a mansion where we first meet the rich kids Graham Sloan (Jon Foster) who is the son of a wealthy movie producer William Sloan (Billy Bob Thornton), and his pill addicted wife Laura Sloan (Kim Basinger). Bruce (Fernando Consagra) Graham`s girlfriend Christie (Amber Heard) and the bisexual skirt hunter Martin (Austin Nichols).

When bruce is leaving the party he is killed by a speeding car.

The new wave rock singer Bryan Metro (Mel Raido) is flying over L.A. obviously on drugs.

Jack (Brad Renfro) is a doorman at a hotel where Christie and Graham is staying, he has come to L.A. to become a actor, but makes a humble living by working as a doorman.

He is alerted when his uncle Pete (Mickey Rourke) who is a criminal, shady man.

Laura Sloan is having sex with the bisexual music producer Martin behind her husband back.

Jack´s uncle Pete has arrived at Jack`s small and run-down house as he returns from work. This upsets Jack very much, as he said no to his uncle when he asked to come, and knowing that he is probably up to no good.

The rockstar Bryan Metro is cooling down in a bathtub of ice drinking vodka after having two young groupies whom he had sex with out of his room. Being high on drugs and alcohol he slips and cuts his hand on the broken bottle.

As the music video of Bryan Metro of the song "Only you" is playing on TV Martin and Graham is being sexual with the beautiful Christie who is dancing to the song. Tim Price (Lou Taylor Pucci) is sitting in the background making a joint, and getting ready to go to Hawaii with his father Les Price (Chris Isaak). Which he is not looking forward to, not having a very good relationship with his father.

Bryan Metro is in a meeting with a movie producer talking about a B-movie that he and his band will be starring in. Although Bryan is more interesting in the young girl watching TV in the other room.

Pete and his girl Mary (Angela Sarafyan) who is looking very strung out, is out riding their van. Pete stops the car by a school, jumps out of the van and kidnaps one of the kids walking alone on the sidewalk.

Graham is upset because Christie is having sex with Martin, Christie`s excuse is that they both are sleeping with Martin, she also show Graham some rashes that she got on her arm, and on one of her feet.

Jack is coming home, and find out that is uncle has kidnapped a kid, he freaks out.

Bryan and his band is having a gig, coming back to his luxurious hotel room, there is a girl groupie waiting for him in the room.

Les Price is having a hard time connecting with his son on their trip to Hawaii.

And Pete, Mary and Jack has to get rid of the kidnapped kid. Because Jack did not deliver the kid to the people who came by the house to pick him up.

From the first time I saw this movie as it was released in 2008 I really liked it. The movie has gotten allot of bad reviews and scored badly allot of places, but I always liked it.

I kind of like the way they make a gloomy story out of the monotony of the movie. The way everything is going to shit for everyone, and the characters really makes me curious and I want to know more about them. Specially Jack and his uncle Pete are interesting to me.

I have also read the book also called The Informers, and it is also good. Bret Easton Ellis has also written the book "Less than zero" and "American Psycho"

They make the atmosphere of the movie dark and gloomy, and it is filled with 80s music such as "New Gold Dream" by Simple minds, "Shadows of the night" by Pat Benatar,  and "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats, and of course more goodies.

In Norway the movie got the age limit 18+ because of the sex scenes in the movie.

Amber Heard, is looking absolutely stunning in this movie.

I also really like Chris Isaak, Brad Renfro, and Mickey Rourke.

The movie gets the score 7 out of 10.
