Snuff (1976) Video Nasty Nr.3

The definition of a snuff film is a film with real footage of someone committing suicide, or being murdered for the purpose of being sold as entertainment. It has been said that snuff movies are nothing but a urban myth. However the Australian pedophile Peter Scully was actually making movies like this, which was sold on the deep web. There is also the Magnotta video 1 Lunatic 1 icepick and the film 3 guys 1 hammer, but these two has not been labeled snuff films.

Anyhow, this movie was really bad. But these 70s B-movies has some kind of charm over them. Snuff is an American 1976 splatter-horror movie. It is most notorious for being marketed as if it was a real snuff movie. The movie was originally called "Slaughter" but it was later changed to "Snuff".  It is a low-budget gore movie, and it was written and directed by the grindhouse husband and wife filmmaking team Michael and Roberta Findlay.

The movie is about the cult leader Satan (Enrique Larratelli) and his cult of girls, who are traveling around killing people. Satan orders his girl to punish another girl who is part of the cult, for not stealing drugs.

At the same time at an airport in South America a man is knifed down, by a woman from the cult.

An actress is with a film maker trying to get a part in a movie, they are at a mardi gras like party. The movie maker keeps hitting on her, but she is not interested.

The actress meets up with a boy that she knows and likes much better than the filmmaker, they are having sex, and at the same time the movie makes is stabbed to death by a woman from the cult.

A girl is tortured, by the cult, and she is told that she has to sleep with the cult leader Satan.

Later the woman who slept with Satan, tells him how she likes to have someone decide over her, and how she had a very abusive boyfriend as she was younger.

Some rich kids are drinking, they are also attacked by the murderous cult.

This movie was bad movie, there is no real plot in the movie. But it is clearly that it is inspired by the Manson family and the killings they committed.
The sound of the movie is really weird, although the movie was bad, it is some kind of a charm over these 70s B-horror movies, and one can see where directors such as Quentin Tarantino is getting their inspiration.
I kind of liked some of the soundtrack, with some nice guitar playing. But I do not know who made or performed this music. Of course the ending scene of the movie is the best part of the movie, and the ending scene is also why the movie is notorious.

it gets a 3 out of 10.
