[Rec] (2007)

[Rec] is a Spanish found footage horror movie. It is written and directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza. It has the same shaky camera filming as seen in other movies as Cannibal Holocaust, and The Blair Witch Project.

The reporter Angela Vidal (Manuela Velasco) and her cameraman Pablo (Pablo Rosso), are covering the night watch at the Barcelona fire station. They are filming for their documentary series called "While you´re sleeping".

Not much is happening at the fire station, but suddenly they get a call about an old woman Mrs. Izquierdo (Martha Carbonell) is trapped in her apartment, and they have to go there and help her.

Angela and Pablo joins the firefighters.

As they arrives at the apartment, something seems to be very weird, cause the old woman seems very sick, and she gets angry and attacks them.

One of the officers who were also in the apartment of the old lady was injured as she attacked them. As they come downstairs, they meet all of the apartment buildings residents in the hallway. Outside there are police and military who has sealed off the whole building.

One of the firefighters who staid upstairs with the old woman, is thrown down the stairs, and crushes his skull on the floor. The woman also kills a girl, and one of the officers is forced to shot her down.

Angela and Pablo starts interviewing the residents of the apartment building. Including a sick little girl, the mother of the young girl claims that she has tonsillitis, and that the girls dog Max, was send to the vet because it was also sick.

The injured people are put in the buildings textile warehouse, to be treated there. Suddenly the injured people starts getting aggressive, and attacking people.

I have never been big on zombie movies, except the old goodies, such as Night of the living dead, Dawn of the dead, and those movies. The newer zombie movies has never been so interesting to me.

But this movie manages to stay pretty interesting, the shaky camera effects makes it pretty cool, and also creepy. The movie was actually not so bad, but I did not have so big hopes when I started watching it.

The movie gets the score 4 out 10.
