Brainscan (1994)

Brainscan is a horror/sci-fi movie. Directed by John Flynn, and co-written by Brian Owens (story) and, Andrew Kevin Walker (screenplay). It stars a young Edward Furlong.
The lonely boy Michael Brower (Edward Furlong) lives a isolated life with games, and horror movies in his absent fathers mansion. Michael´s mother died in a car accident, this car accident also permanently injured Michael´s leg. Michael´s only friend a outcast kid named Kyle tells Michael about this new video game which is ultra-realistic and is called Brainscan. Michael sends for this game. The game strangely with a warning and has much in common with a state of hypnosis. In the game Michael leads the life of a killer, which goes into the house of a man, and brutally stabs him to death. As Michael wakes up all sweating from the game, he sees on TV a man which has been killed in his own house while sleeping. This is when Michael starts to understand that this is no ordinary video game.

This is actually a very underrated horror movie if you ask me. It is kind of a teen-film, but I really enjoyed it. I can kind of put my self in Michael´s shoes, cause I was also kind of lonely, isolated and didn`t really fit in at school. Rater than hang out with others, I would like to sit inside watching horror movies, and playing video games. I really like that the movie has kind of a mind-fuck plot, and I absolutely love the effects in these early 90s and 80s horror movies, with the electricity and laser-beams, it gets me every time! I also like the early acting of Edward Furlong. This is a great movie.
