The Boogey Man is an American supernatural horror film written and directed by Ulli Lommel, and is one of the video nasties. A young girl named Lacey (Suzanna Love) witnesses her brother Willy (Nicholas Love) killing their mothers boyfriend with a knife, she sees it all through the reflections of a mirror. Twenty years later she is married and has a child. She suffers from nightmare and trauma due to the murder that happened when she was young.
Ulli Lommel has made a bunch of serial killer movies which are absolutely crap. But this movie is actually not so bad. Of course it is not the best film I have ever seen, but I enjoy it. The movie has received allot of allot of negative and critical reviews, mostly because of its heavy similarities to other movies such as Halloween, The Exorcist, and The Amityville Horror, that is something I see. The house in the movie is basically the same house as in The Amityville Horror. But the movie was successful enough to get two sequels. "Boogeyman II" (1983) and " Return of the Boogeyman" (1994). The movie is decent entertainment, but as I said not the best movie. 4 out of 10
