Only God Forgives (2013)

Only God Forgives is a Danish-French neo-noir psychological thriller movie written and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, and starring Ryan Gosling. Nicolas Winding Refn words is that this is a movie about a man wanting to fight God. Julian (Ryan Gosling) is an American expatriate who runs a Muay Thai boxing club in Bangkok, Thailand. The boxing club is really just a front for selling drugs. One night as Julian´s brother Billy (Tom Burke) tells his brother "Time to meet the Devil". As he goes out he is looking to get himself a 14 year old prostitute. Eventually Billy rapes and kills a 16 year old prostitute. This is when Julian´s life gets really complicated, as his mother Crystal (Kristin Scott Thomas) arrives Bangkok, and demands that Julian shall kill the person who killed his brother.

This is seriously one of the best movies I have seen in a while, I love this genre of movies, very mysterious and artistic. The filming of the movie is absolutely beautiful, mostly the pictures are in blue and red neon lights. The movie has kind of a David Lynch vibe to it. It is a movie you might have to see a couple of times, because it is allot of metaphors and is a movie you kind of have to think and not just watch but really see. To me it was a fucking great movie, loved pretty much everything about it, from the Thailand karaoke scenes, the brutal violence, the plot, and the surrealistic scenes. If you like this kind of mystery, neo-noir, psychological thriller movies, this is a great piece of art! 9 out of 10.
